An unique approach towards digital and interactive material has been recently developed. This was created as a support material for when I was volunteering for NYE Fest. The UK's biggest New Year's Latin-related dancing convention took place at the end of December towards the New Year into New Year's Day 2024. The document provided information maps guidelines and references which enabled me to the organized and resourceful when handling a variety of situations which can occur during my volunteering role. It was presented using an interactive interface including index pages to access the different sections of the documents, providing quick links to access specific contents even to a different section and shortcut links to access different sections after documents quickly and efficiently. Preparation As part of developing an interactive organizer a customised events map was made to make it easy to access the information quickly easy to direct the visitors and part of the prince to the relevant area of the venue effectively. Some of the content was strengthened by developing a series of highlighted solid colour shapes behind specific written information. This design feature was used related to communication guidelines and procedures related to important situations. This enables me to digest and respond appropriately when serious and challenging situations occur. Presentation The overall look is presented using visual effects and background gradient blends. With the index and shortcut links using free dimensional blended shapes. The document was presented using a colour coding system it was important to identify information and resources quickly within each section This was important to enable me to maintain interest in accessing the appropriate information, references and resources quickly and effectively when I am volunteering during a series of four-hour duration for two days. The team behind the NYE Fest was extremely impressed with what was developed. Overall I used design imagination and innovation to develop a digital document which enabled me to be efficient, resourced and flexible during my volunteer role. The article is related to my insight on some major changes the Department for Work and Pensions is proposing which affect all disabilities towards employment It was related to my involvement in the public consultation in central Birmingham arranged by the Department for Work and Pensions. This is regarding the planned changes with the work capability assessment. As part of the story, I shared many different aspects which need to be considered to make sure a disability is supported into employment it's not a disadvantage. As part of my part of the places I also published two insight and analysis documents on different aspects and provided several solutions based on the bigger picture through the disability perspective. This was shared with the DWP as part of the consultation. This edition of the voice newspaper featuring me was available at newsstands around the UK during December 2023. In 2022, Keith became a featured community participant for Birmingham who became part of special projects and campaigns to promote a positive legacy beyond hosting the Commonwealth Games The dancing awareness and suggestions publication is now openly available to everyone Since 2019 a family of publications was developed and created awareness understanding and provided suggestions to make sure that dancers with head dippers are not disappointed when attending classes workshops events and conventions. The documents were originally limited to the leaders and key crew members of the Birmingham base salsa dancing organisation Latinmotion. Then in 2022, these documents were updated to include volunteering suggestions for participating in dancing conventions living with hidden differences. This was initially shared to Birmingham’s Latinmotion and London’s Manbo City linked with the NEC summer convention MotionCity. Then in the same year, these were featured online for the autism awareness audiences on the website of one of the UK's most respected awareness campaigns with Anna Kennedy OBE. Now being openly available for everyone for the first time the documents have been rewritten and updated. This was developed to make sure more people involved in dancing are aware of factors which every needs to consider to enable inclusivity. In addition, the updated documents are a response to the concerns of experiencing unpleasant amounts of discrimination and ableism. The specially written publication provides insight on the challenges of an independent person with hidden differences in specific partner dancing environments like Salsa Bachata, Kizomba, Cuban Salsa and many more. The documents also provide a variety of solutions and suggestions to make sure a person with hidden can able to maintain a positive experience without compromising situation which can affect their presence Why this was created Despite the dancing environments having a variety of people with different backgrounds, I have observed and experienced many situations when some people with hidden differences can be at a disadvantage and in some cases become discouraged. Especially if there's little or no ground-level understanding provided. These documents are designed to enable and improve inclusive environments regardless of the specific difficulties, strengths and any ability and capacity limitations. You can now view and download these documents by visiting the Embrace Dancing webpage Discover more To anyone involved in dancing if you need to benefit from this document and would like additional aspects to spread the word and could benefit your dancing community, organisation, convention & events, get in touch via my LinkedIn profile Notice to editors
